Conference on 2020 and beyond

As Eastern Partnership enters its second decade, the importance of the initiative is evident more than ever. With rise of populism and nationalism, increasingly shrinking space for civic movements and resurgent autocracy; the defenders of democratic values and principles must get together and reassert their commitment.

The purpose of this event is to create a platform for civil society representatives to celebrate achievements, exchange experiences and identify perspectives of the challenges and development in the six EaP countries. This event will thus not only address the similarities and differences from a historical and political viewpoint but more importantly focus on the steps forward.

Over the course of two days, representatives of civil society, academia and duty bearers will explore recommendations in the thematic areas of Media Freedom, Good Governance and Gender Equality in order to put forward the perspectives from the civil society on focus areas after the "20 Deliverables for 2020" and responses to the European Commission’s structured consultation. What views exist on the coming decades and what ideas and reflections can we build on to strengthen the cooperation between the EU and the EaP?
