As per a decision by the Partizansky District Court of Minsk on 5 December 2025, ForumCiv’s social media accounts have been labelled as “extremist materials” by the Belarusian authorities.

This means that any interaction with our content, including liking, sharing, reposting, or even following our channels, is now considered punishable under Belarusian law. In many cases, individuals have faced administrative and criminal charges simply for engaging with organizations that defend human rights and democracy.

If you live in Belarus, or if you travel there, we strongly advise you to:

  • Unsubscribe from all our social media accounts
  • Delete any likes, reposts, or links to ForumCiv’s content or website
  • Avoid sharing or saving any of our materials. If you have ever downloaded any materials containing ForumCiv's logo or reference to ForumCiv, please make sure to delete these materials.

We urge you to take these precautions for your own safety.

This is yet another sign of the rapidly shrinking space for civil society in Belarus, a trend we see in many parts of the world, where authorities are silencing independent voices, criminalising peaceful organising, and weakening democracy from within.

ForumCiv stands in solidarity with all those who continue to resist authoritarianism and fight for their rights. A strong civil society is not a threat to democracy – it is its greatest defence.
