The Transformative Partnerships Programme reaches more than 50 civil society organisations across 28 countries.

In November 2025, ForumCiv signed a new agreement with Sida to support the Transformative Partnerships Programme.

The programme has been developed and is being implemented by a consortium led by ForumCiv together with six of our member organisations: Clowns Without Borders Sweden, Framtidsjorden, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom Sweden, Praktisk Solidaritet, Swedish Foundation for Human Rights, and The Hunger Project Sweden

The consortium has high expectations for what this collaboration can achieve:

This is a significant initiative that counters the growing global trends of militarisation and repression. We hope the programme will strengthen feminist peace movements and their conflict prevention work through long-term support and deeper partnerships, says Tove Ivergård, Head of International Cooperation at Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom Sweden.

Elin Wilhelmsson, Project Manager at Clowns Without Borders, adds:

Through this programme, we will be able to reach people living in extremely vulnerable situations. For us, that means prioritising children and women affected by war, crisis, and conflict, and empowering them to claim their rights.

Global reach, local depth

The Transformative Partnerships Programme includes, besides the seven Swedish organisations, 54 civil society organisations across 28 countries. The programme provides flexible, context-based financial support, capacity building, and partnership development.

Our ambition is to harness synergies both in Sweden and in the regions where the programme operates, with the goal of building the capacity of civil society actors as agents of change, says Teresa Allendes, Project Manager at Praktisk Solidaritet.

The largest number of partner organisations is based in Latin America, while the region we reach the most countries in is Sub-Saharan Africa. The programme also includes partners in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Asia.

The programme focuses on three main objectives:

  • A stronger and more autonomous civil society
  • Resilient and inclusive communities
  • Sustainable livelihoods and climate justice

A new way of working

As the Sida-funded Swedish Partnership Programme will cease to exist by the end of March 2026, the Transformative Partnerships Programme marks a new phase, that will be jointly led and managed by all consortium members.

By building a strategic alliance with other Swedish organisations, we’ve created an opportunity to continue supporting our partners in their crucial work for equality, human rights, inclusion, democracy, and peace, says Teresa Allendes from Praktisk Solidaritet.

Through this programme, ForumCiv and the consortium members reaffirm our commitment to a just, equal, and sustainable world where civil society is a driving force for democratic change.
